Weingut Von Hovel

The Saar winery von Hövel in Konz-Oberemmel is part of the Association of German Quality Wineries and is now run by the seventh generation of the family. Winemaker Maximilian von Kunow, winner of the Wine Award "Newcomer of the Year 2016", values naturally grown grapes that are treated and pressed with care. The wines mature in the more than 1100 year old vaulted cellar. The traditional winery von Hövel, founded in 1803, is located in Konz-Oberemmel, whose origins of viticulture can probably be traced back to the days of the Celts. Below the old abbey building, in the old monastery cellar from the 12th century, the wines are made spontaneously and by hand. A gentle treatment of the healthy and valuable grapes guarantees wines that are characterized by excellent quality and longevity.

Von Hövel currently cultivates a total of 21.5 hectares of vineyards, including some steep and steep slopes. In addition to the world-famous Scharzhofberger, the most important locations also include the Oberemmeler Hütte, which is solely owned by the winery, and the outstanding monopoly location "Hörecker", a "filet piece" in the Kanzemer Altenberg. The sustainable management of the vineyards follows the strict guidelines of the "Fair & Green" association, which awards its seal for sustainable management and winery management. Forgoing herbicides, mineral fertilizers and pesticides is a matter of course and reflects the philosophy of the winery owner.
